N.Z. PRISONERS OF WAR
MORE ESCAPE TO SWITZERLAND (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, Jan. 6,
News of New Zealanders who have escaped from Italy to Switzerland has been received in London from Private D. L. Jacobs, Christchurch. He states that “about 50 from the camp I was in’’ had arrived. “The Swiss people are very good and are kindness itself. I am able to hire a wireless to listen in to the New Zealand news broadcast from London every Tuesday.”
Expressing thanks to Mr C. B. Burdekin, who is in charge of the Prisoners of War Department, New Zealand House, Private Jacobs says: “New Zealand House has done a great job for the lads. . I really believe we are treated better than any of the other Dominions.’’
