REPRESENTATIVE GAMES

PROVINCIAL, SERVICE, AND BRABIN SHIELD A tentative programme of representative and Brabin shield matches for the present season was arranged at a conference of representatives of the Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago Cricket Associations yesterday. The programme, which is subject to approval by the associations, is as follows: Representative Games. Otago v. Canterbury Christmas dates, at Christchurch, Otago v. Canterbury, February, at Dunedin. Auckland v. Canterbury, New Year dates, at Christchurch. Auckland v. Wellington, Christmas dates, at Wellington. All these are to be three-day matches. Brabin Shield Games Canterbury v. Otago, December 31 and January 1, at Dunedin. Canterbury v. Wellington, December 28 and 29, at Christchurch. These will be two-day matches. If Wellington wishes to travel to Dunedin to play Otago on December 31 and January 1, Canterbury will give up Us dates with Otago and arrange to play Otago later. Inter-service matches among teams of the Navy, Army, and Air Force will also be held this season. The programme of fixtures was announced at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council last evening by Pilot Officer W. H. Blckley, as follows: Air Force v. Navy, at Wellington, January 14 and 15. Army v. Navy, at Auckland, February 4 and 5. Air Force v. Army, at Christchurch, February 18 and 19. Church Creche When a family service was held at the Methodist Church at Masterton an innovation was a creche in the adjacent hall where babies and young children were looked after while the parents attended service.
