FIGHTING IS Stl'.j-LY The Bth Army has improved its bridgehead on the north bank of the Sangro River in the last 24 hours, A 8.8.C. correspondent, reporting from Algiers, says that the Germans have been launchng strong counter-attacks, but they have all been beaten off. Engineers of the Bth Army are building more bridges, and the artillery is busy shelling German gun positions. In the Castel di Sangro area the Bth Army has occupied high ground which makes the German positions untenable. It is likely that the Germans will evacuate their positions. Five miles to the west the Germans are still resisting.— London, November 26. GERMANS CLAIM GOMEL DESTROYED The evacuation of Gomel has been confirmed by a German High Command communique, which said that the city had been completely destroyed.— London, November. 26.
