SCHOOLS’ RACES AT WANGANUI "The Press’ Special Service. WANGANUI, November 22. In the first Inter-college boat race since 1941, Wanganui Collegiate Schools first four beat Christ’s College on the Wanganui river this morning. Christ’s College s second four won by one clear length... it was the first Wanganui win in six years. There were several hundred spectators, including supporters of the Christ College representatives, to see the tace, which' was rowed in brilliant sunlight into a fair westerly breeze. The senior race was won by about half a length. In the senior event, with about half a mile to go, Collegiate School forged ahead, and in a determined tussle over the last few hundred yards, increased the lead to about half a length', in spite of Increased efforts by Christ’s College. The Christs College crew was Quaife (stroke), D. Gould (3), R. Kay (2). Glasgow (bow). H. Sheppard (cox). In the second race honours were ®Q UB I practically throughout.
