Theft of Petrol.—Two petrol thieves were sent to gaol for a month when they appeared before Mr F. H. Levien, S.M., in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court yesterday. They were William Herbert Stephens, aged 26, and Cyrii William Walker, aged 30, both mechanics, who stole , four gallons of
petrol, the property of the United States Government. When they wen seen behaving suspiciously near 8® American car on Saturday night jj“ American officer called the police, WW arrested them. Their counsel, Mr Meek, said they foolishly yielded • temptation.—(P.A.)
