EXTRA RATIONING COUPONS
—.♦— PROVISION IN NEW BOOKS ALLOWANCE FOR HOUSEHOLD ' LINEN No indication of butter or meat rationing is given in the new ration books which are to be issued on Monday, although the./ books for both adults and children contain extra sheets of unspecified coupons in addition to the coupons for tea, sugar, and clothing. Adults’ books also contain a special sheet of coupons for household linen, which can be used to purchase blankets, sheets, pillow cases, towels, tea towels, face cloths, quilts, and furnishings. , There are three sheets of 52 coupons marked A, B, and C, in the adults’ books and those for children from five to 10 years, but no announcement has been made of the purpose for which they are to be used. The clothing coupons are divided into two sheets each containing three wool coupons and 20 clothing coupons. The wool coupons will replace the function of the present combined E and clothing coupons.. With the household linen coupons are six special coupons for which no purpose has been revealed. The usual emergency coupons are also included. The books for children from five to 10 years are the same as the books for adults, except that they do not contain tea coupons. For children from six months to five years the books are also the same, but have a special sheet of D coupons and 20 coupons marked “infant special.’’ Six baby wool coupons which may be used to buy any type of wool are included in the supplementary books for expectant mothers. There are also 12 infant linen coupons which are to be used for pram and cot blankets and sheets, and general infant. linen. Twenty-five clothing coupons in the books can be used for clothing for either the mother or the child. The Chief Post Office yesterday issued a reminder to applicants for the new ration books that they should still retain their present books. These contain not only the sugar and tea coupons for the present riionth, but also clothing coupons which are available for the duration of the war.
