THE EMPIRE HAS REJECTED PROHIBITION' Do not forget this important fact—every country in the Empire has rejected prohibition. In fact, ho country in the world has prohibition. It has been rejected because it is wrong in principle and disastrous in practice. Every nation that has tried prohibition as an “experiment” has finally thrown it out. Results have shown that the “experiment” not only fails to cure the evils it is intended to remedy, but creates disastrous evils of its own. It corrupts the law and the morals of the people, and even the attempt at enforcement costs fabulous sums. New Zealand has shown the moderation and common sense of its people by steadily rejecting prohibition on every occasion. Electors will have another opportunity on September 25 of registering their votes for Continuance. Make sure of this—do not leave it to the other fellow as he may be leaving it to you. Go to the Poll and again vote Continuance —strike out the two bottom lines. Hold fast to Liberty! -21 Award of M.B.E.—News has been received in Whangarei that Mr Austin Reynolds, of Whangarei, has been | awarded the M.B.E. for services when his ship was sunk by enemy fire. It is believed that the incident occurred in the Caribbean Sea. Mr Reynolds has been an engineer with tankers during the whole of the war.—(P.A.)
