OFFICIAL FORECASTS “ The Press ” Special Service. WELLINGTON, September 13. The weather forecast for Canterbury, Issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington,, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Strong north to north-west winds, reaching gale force at times. Weather cloudy and warm, with heavy rain in the ranges. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Strong northerly winds, reaching gale force at times. Weather dull and unsettled, with general drizzle and rain, and some heavy falls. Temperatures mild. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was fine and mild, though Cloudy, yesterday, with a light north-east breeze. The maximum temperature was 67.4 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear and a light north-west wind was blowing. The barometer, falling, registered 29.48 in (998.3 millibars).
