DURATION OF WAR

WARNING GIVEN TO AUSTRALIA (Rec. 10 p.m.) BRISBANE, Sept. 12. A warning that Australia must be prepared to maintain her maximum war effort for several years yet was given by the Australian Army Minister (the Hon. F. M. Forde). “The news of Italy’s capitulation is tremendously encouraging,” he said, “and I believe it is a happy augury of the outcome of the war; but we must not mistake this good news for an indication of the capitulation of the Axis Pqwers generally. “We have to be prepared to carry on this war with determination and with the maximum application for several years yet, before we can hope to have complete victory.”
