The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) arrived in Christchurch yesterday from Waimate. After addressing a political meeting in Christchurch this, evening, Mr Fraser will leave to fulfil an engagement in Invercargill to-morrow evening.
The leader of the National Party (Mr S. G. Holland) arrived in Christchurch yesterday from’Nelson. He will leave on Tuesday for Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, and Invercargill, returning ’to Christchurch on Friday.
The retiring chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board (Mr T. A. Duncan), at a recent meeting of the board, extended a welcome to Messrs G. H. Grigg, Hororata, J. R. L. Hammond,.-Rata, and W. W. MuUiolland, Darfield, who had been elected as producers’ representatives on the board. Appreciation was expressed of the services of the three retiring members -of the board. Messrs W. Doig, Papakaio, F. C. Johnstone, Waitetuna, and Lachlan Maclean, Hastings.
Mr David Allan was appointed chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board at a meeting of the board held recently. Mr Allan’s election followed an announcement by Mr T. A. Duncan, who had been chairman since 1935, that he y/as not seeking reelection gs chairman. Members of the board expressed appreciation of Mr Duncan’s services to the meat industry during the period of his chairmanship.
