THE WOOL BONUS DISTRIBUTION OF INCREASE , So:ni‘ mi.-apprehcnslon exists as to the detailed distribution of the 15 per cent, increao in the appraisement price of the 1942-4:; v.ail dtp. it was stated last week in a reference to the re.-.ult of the season's appraisals that the Government had decided that 5 per cent, was to be issued to woolgrowers in Government bonds This has been interpreted by some woolgrowers as-5 per cent, of the 15 per cent., but it means 5 per cent of the total value. The total appraisement value at the Christchurch centre for the season was £1,677.645, representing 115 per cent. One hundred per cent, of this amount is £M58,P22, and the 5 per cent, of this to be distributed in the way of Government bonds amounts to £72,941. COMPANY NEWS Xaupirl Coal.—The accounts of Taupirl Coal Mines tor the year ended March 31 show a net profit of £12,755, compared with £9532 last year, and £9407 in 1941. The directors report that owing to the delay in securing a settlement with the Government they • have decided to submit the accounts on the basis of the amount claimed from the Government For a similar reason they had earlier declared a dividend of Is 3d a share, which is the same rate as last year. Dividends, ordinary and preference, require £9405, leaving a balance to be carried forward of £3350.—(P.5.5.) f MINING Slab Hut.—Owing to repair work there will be no wash up at Slab Hut Creek dredge until August 20. Associated Gold Dredges (N.Z.), Ltd.— For the week ended, August 7. this company's dredges recovered 1660z from 60.500 yards in 290 dredging hours. Gillespie’s Beach.—The Gillespie's Beach return is 21oz for 131 hours from STOCK SALES DUVAUCHELLE Fat cattle were in keen demand at the monthly cattle sale at Duvauchelle on Friday and prices showed a considerable advance on recent rates in conformity with Addington Market, The entrv of fats consisted of about 120 head, and they were mostly in prime condition, there being some specially good quality heifers and cows.
