♦ VIEWS OF CONSUMERS’ LEAGUE Reference to what was described as “continued pressure” by certain interests and the Government through the Health and Agriculture Departments to interfere with and alter the present Private supply of milk to Christchurch was made in the annual report of the executive of the Christchurch Consumers’ League, which was presented at the annual meeting of the league last evening. The report stated that the position had been carefully watched by the executive, which had taken all possible steps to protect the rights of consumers both in choice and price. “To the present, every attempt to deprive the people of their rights as consumers and purchasers has failed,” added the report. “But the determination of the interested commercial and political organisations has. under war conditions, been intensified. At this moment there has appeared in the daily press a report of a supposedly cooperative movement amongst producers to handle all milk for the city, which may or may not be an attempt through another channel to bring about the planned scheme of the groups mentioned.” The following officers were elected: President, Mr L.
