RAILWAY TRAFFIC
♦ CONSIDERABLE INCREASE In Canterbury and the West Coast there was a considerable increase in every type of railway passenger arid freight traffic, with the exception of road goods services, during the four weeks which ended on July 24, compared with the corresponding period last year. Passengers numbered 198,151, against 172,708, and the total revenue from passengers and goods amounted to £152,175, compared with £137,928. Mr F. J; Henshaw reported that a meetibg of potato growers at Willowbridge had favoured standardisation of sacks at the 24Jjn x 46in size, with a second choice of the 2CJin x 42in size. Mr W, J, Fletcher presided at the meeting.
