FARM PRODUCE MARKETING

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 15. The immediate formation of a farmers’ co-operative marketing association was a proposal endorsed by the Dominion conference of the Farmers’ Union. The resolution adopted embodied proposals that only farmer-suppliers be eligible for a seat on the board of directors, and that when formed it should take over the marketing of farm produce from the Internal Marketing Division. The conference expressed by resolution the opinion that the difference in prices received by growers and the price to consumers of primary produce handled by the Internal Marketing Department appeared to be too great, and indicated that the, department should be thoroughly overhauled with a view to a drastic reduction in departmental costs.
