ANNUAL MEETING
BRIGHTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY The financial statement presented to the annual meeting of the New Brighton Horticultural Society showed a credit balance of £lO 9s 6d, as against £7 16s 7d the previous year. It was reported that during the year Mrs Fox gave a cup to the society for a garden competition for State houses in the New Brighton area. Mrs March was made a life member in recognition of her good work for the society. ■’Officers elected were:—Patrons, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan and the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr E. H. Andrews); president, Mr W. E. Wilkins; vice-presi-dents, Mrs F. A. Fox, Messrs J. N Clarke, H. Ardern; secretary, Zena Ardern; treasurer, Mr M. L. Whittington; committee, Mrs A. H. Ragg, Messrs W. J. Carpenter, W. Hunter, J. N. Kelly, and W. Pollard.
