N.Z. AIR TRAINEES IN CANADA
VISITS BY MR JONES (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 27. A message from a special correspondent at Ottawa (on June 26) states that the New Zealand Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) has been greatly impressed with the new methods and ingenious apparatus installed in the various Canadian stations established under the air training plan. He has also been impressed by the high standard of the accommodation and the recreational facilities for trainees. He found that the station commanders are men of a good type, who show the keenest interest in the welfare of their pupils. The weather interfered with Mr Jones’s itinerary, but in the last seven days he covered almost 4000 miles by aeroplane. He visited nine widelyseparated centres at which there are New Zealanders. At one of these, 210 men paraded. The commanding officers expressed the utmost satisfaction with the high standard reached by New Zealand trainees, Mr Jones is continuing his tour, and will visit other stations where New Zealanders are located.
