NEW NOVELS KATHERINE MANSFIELD Daughter of Time. By Nelia Gardner White. Constable. 245 pp. Through Whitcombe and Tombs Ltd. This novel, in effect, is a biography and interpretation of Katherine Mansfield. She is the Katherine Innes of the story, and by far the most vividly realised character; Middleton Murry figures as Aaron Barr, D. H. Lawrence as T.L. As a study of their agonising relationship, the book reaches its highest dramatic interest. EGG AND NICKY The Pandervils. By Gerald Bullett. J. M. Dent and Sons Ltd. 372 pp. (10/6 net.) Mr Bullett wrote “Egg Pandervil” and “Nicky Son of Egg” in the late ’twenties and the two books were issued as “The Pandervils” in 1930; this reissue is a revised one. They were memorable stories of rural England and of England at war; and they will now impress a new circle of 'readers with their truth and humour.
