PROHIBITION OF STRIKES
TERMS OF AMERICAN BILL (Pec. 11 p.m.) WASHINGTON,* June 12. Tlj'e House of Representatives has passed the Anti-strike Bill by 210 votes 'to, 129. The measure outlaws, strikes in Government-operated plants, and prohibits strikes in other war industries unless 30 days’ notice is given and approved by the workers in a secret ballot. The bill strengthens the War Labour Board’s power to settle disputes. It prescribes penalties of a year’s imprisonment and a fine of 5000 dollars for any person who induces, coerces, conspires with, or encourages another to interrupt production in a Governmentoperated plant. The bill forbids the War Labour Board to sanction the closed shop' or the maintenance of membership contracts.
