LIVE SHELL PRACTICE
HOME GUARD ARTILLERY UNITS
All artillery sections of Home Guard units in the Southern Military District. with the exception of the Timaru section, will carry out live shell practice during the next few weeks. The sections in the Christchurch area are expected to do their shoots early next month. All the exercises will be carried out during the regular week-end training. Some time ago Home Guard artillery units were issued with field guns, and since then they have reached a high enough standard in training to have live shell practice, for which a supply of ammunition has now been made available. A good proportion of the personnel in the Christchurch area have had artillery experience overseas in this war or the last or with the territorials.
