MEASURES AGAINST UKRAINIANS (Rcc. 7 p.m.) LONDON, June 9. Ukrainian guerrillas operating round Kiev killed 4227 Germans during April, according to the latest reports received in Moscow. German propaganda is putting out a stream of stories about generous treatment of Ukrainians, but atrocities are verified by official Soviet documents and also by British and American , correspondents who have visited Kharkov. As recently as May 20 2500 men and women were arrested at Olvcsk, west of Kiev, for deportation as slave labour to Germany. Between 10 and 15 citizens of Olvesk were hanged publicly each day as a warning to guerrillas. One hundred children aged from 10 to 15. whose parents had been deported to Germany, were brought to the town of Novograd Volyna and offered publicly for sale at the. rate of 4s for girls and 6s for boys. Those not sold were drowned in the Sluch river, according to an eye-witness who recently arrived in Moscow. GERMANY’S ALLIES SWEDISH NEWSPAPER’S COMMENT LONDON. June 9. “A cool-headed attitude is being adopted by Germany’s allies who, according to Hitler in June, 1941, were marching at the side of Germany," states the “Afton-Tidningen,” according to Reuter’s Stockholm correspondent, “The Finns and Rumanians are waging defensive wax's," it adds. "Hitler will not be able to persuade the Rumanians to do much more on the Eastern Front. The Italians have now something else to think about besides sending soldiers to Russia. Hungary has withdrawn her expeditionary corps from the Eastern Front and Bulgaria, who is at peace with Russia, is disinclined to accede to German requests to change her attitude. The Italians having arrested 300 Corsicans and announced that 10 of them will be shot, an Algiers radio announcer read out a formal warning to the Italians that merciless reprisals will be carried out if any of the hostages are executed. The announcer added: “There are not only 100.000 war prisoners in Africa, there are other Fascists—and these will be the first.” ITALY’S WAR AIMS (Rcc. 7 p.m.) LONDON. June 9. Gayda, in an article in the “Giornale dTtalia,” says: "Italy does not ignore the importance of this historic hour. She secs it coming with confidence and firmness, and is ready to fight with arms and ideals, trusting in the might of the Tripartite Powers and the victory of justice. “Italy’s war aims are (1) a new order in Europe; (2) justice, reconciliation, and collaboration; (3) possession of the means to guarantee national work; (4) accession to new regions and markets; (5) freedom from all foi'eign hegemony.” FASCIST PARTY PURGE (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) ZURICH, June 9. Eleven more high Fascist officials have been expelled from the party, bringing the number of such expulsions to 126 in two days, according to reports from Rome.
