TROTTING NOTES

The Sapling Stakes Winner Acropolis, winner of the New Zealand Sapling Slakes, is owned by Mr T. J. Atkinson secretary of the Canterbury Owners’ and Breeders’ Association, and it marked his first win in a classic race although Acropolis had previously run second to Scottish Emperor in the Oamaru Juvenile Stakes. R. B Berry, the trainer of Acropolis, has Worked patiently with the Dillon Hall gelding who has shown steady Improvement since he was first raced in tlie Timaru Nursery Stakes, Berry, who has won nearly all the classic races in New Zealand, had previously won Ihe Sapling Stakes with Parisicnne in 1030 and Pacing Power in 1041 Both these winners trained on to be good handicap performers, and apparently the best has not yet been seen of Acropolis

An Improver Plunder Bar, who finished second in the Sapling Stakes, is by Jack Potts, and was bred by M, C. McTigue. who won races with the dam, Waress. Plunder Bar had not previously shown form that would encotirage support in such a race, but he has made gradual Improvement with the racing he has been given. He Is a likely candidate for handicap races next season

Poor Class Trotters The trotters in the Longbeach Handicap at Ashburton represented very poor class, and though the winner, Worthy Addition, may win more races, the second horse. Helen Galindo, is 14 years old She is by the Dominion Handicap winner, Michael Galindo, ,from a trottingbred mare in Miss Carbine.
