TEACHERS ELECT NEW PRESIDENT
* EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE’S OFFICERS When investing Mr J. Barnett, head • master of the Johnsonville School, as president of the New Zealand Educational Institute at the annual conference in Christchurch yesterday, the retiring president, Mr D. Forsyth, of Dunedin, paid tribute to his services as the institute’s treasurer. "Mr Barnett is not only the friend of every member ot the executive,” said Mr Forsyth, “but the number of nominations fie received for this office, to which ho was elected unopposed, shows that he also has the confidence of the branches After being invested Mr Barnett said: "This is a proud day in my life, for you have bestowed the greate-t honour you can upon me. I trust that, in the difficult year ahead. I will retain your confidence.” Mr Barnett paid tribute to the work of Mr Forsyth during his three years of office, also to that of Mr W. H. Burgess, who had retired from the vice-presidency. The election of other officers re-sulted:—Vice-president. Mr A. Hanna, of Otago; treasurer. Mr J. S. H. Robertson. of Hull; local ezecutive. Miss M. F. Gallagher, Miss M. Magill, Mr J. F. Mac Donald. Mr M. S. Pitkowsky. and Dr. F. Spurdle: full executive, Miss V, Curtis of Taranaki. Mr J. H. Menzios, of Thames. Mr F. R. Price, of South Canterbury. Dr. W. J. Boraman, of Southland, and Mr W. J. Cartwright, of North Canterbury.
