MISSING BOYS FOUND

Armed with a collection of schoolboy thrillers, the three 13-year-old boys, Brian Maguire, Kevin Dooley, and Peter George Quinn, who had been missing from their homes in Christchurch since 9 a.m. on Tuesday, were found at the Ashburton Railway Station on Wednesday evening. The boys had begun their journey by train with the intention of reaching the Rangitata Huts. After arriving at Ashburton they walked about 14 miles further south along the main road, but after spending a cold and hungry night in a plantation two miles beyond Hinds, they decided that it would be wiser to return home. They were able to get a ride back to Ashburton and, on reaching the railway station, were identified by an employee who informed the police. The boys were provided with food and a bed, and were returned to their homes at Christchurch yesterday morning.
