LAWN TENNIS
CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION The serious shortage of tennis balls was again discussed by the management committee of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Assoclation at a meeting held last evening. A sub-committee was appointed to make a report on stocks Of balls and requirements Of tennis clubs In Canterbury for the next season. The report will be sent to the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, when representations will be made to the Minister of Supply (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) for permission to import balls. A sub-committee was also delegated to interest school children in the sport, through the mediums of educational films and the proposed magazine issued by the Canterbury Council of Amateur Sport. A Presentation.—A presentation to Mr and Mrs A. E. H. Christie, who are leaving Christchurch for Auckland, was made by members of the Cashmere Bowling Club. Regret at the departure of Mr Christie, who is wellknown as a skip in bowling communities throughout Canterbury, was expressed.
