ANZACS CALLING

Sir, —Last night I was listening to the 8.8.C. Pacific service, “Anzacs Calling.” at 5.15 p.m. The broadcasts were from repatriated prisoners of war from Italy, and New Zealand naval men. I took the message from one naval rating to his wife at Cashmere. I called at her home to-day to find that she had missed hearing it, through the fault of someone at 3YA. She received a cablegram on Monday from her husband to state he was broadcasting on May 11. She rang up 3YA and was told that it would be from 5.45 to o-lo-His father rang 3YA and was told a different time. Apparently 3YA is not conversant with 8.8.C. broadcasts. Could 3YA state whether last nights messages were recorded, and, if s°» will they be broadcast, and when? — Yours, etc., w LEWIS . May 12, 1943. [A recording of the broadcast would undoubtedly have been made in Wellington, said the Station Director of 3YA (Mr J, McKenzie), when this letter was referred to him. If the person whose husband had given a message in the broadcast communicated with Station 3YA, efforts would be made to have, the recording brought from Wellington.]
