ACCIDENTS
INJURED BOY DIES Following an injury received while playing hockey in Hagley Park on Tuesday, Barrymore George Gibbons, aged 12 years, of 176 Clarence road, became ill, and died in the Christchurch Public Hospital at noon on the following day. An inquest was opened before the Coroner yesterday, and was adjourned sine die after evidence of identification had been given. SURFACEMAN KILLED (P.A.) DUNEDIN, May 13. When a face of shingle collapsed, Mr John Arthur Birtles, aged 47, married, a Taieri County surfaceman, was killed instantly yesterday afternoon. A companion in the pit with him was buried to the hips, but was uninjured.
