CANTERBURY RUGBY UNION MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE A suggestion that under-weight and under-age teams be given a chance to play curtain-raisers at Lancaster Pane and Rugby Park was made to the Management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union by the Junior Advisory Board last evening. The Canterbury Agricultural College was granted permission to enter a team for the second grade competition. A grant of £lO 10s was made to the Canterbury Referees’ Association. A request from the Buller Rugby Union for a match against a Canterbury team at Westport on June 5 or 7, was referred to the finance and competition committees. Mr W. Dailey complained that the Technical College Old Boys’ Club, which had three teams entered in the under 15 grade, were using players from the B and C teams to bolster up the A team. In the draw for next Saturday the B and C teams, drawn to play each other, had arranged to play the game at a later date. He said the idea was bad in principle and the two teams should cither register a default or play. Tire secretary (Mr E, Mitchell) said he had discussed the matter with the Technical College Old Boys’ representative, and he had said that it was not the object of his club to win a competition, but to ensure that at least one team fielded a full fifteen. , It was decided to leave the question in the hands of the Junior Advisory Board, which would take control of the under age and under-weight grades next week. Messrs O. Hattersley, P. W. Storey, and J. L. Loveridge was appointed selectors of representative teams for the season.
