TUESDAY (Before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M.) ESCAPE ALLEGED Harold Wheeler McAuley, a gardener, aged 38 years, was charged witli escaping from confinement in a detention camp for defaulters on April 28. He pleaded not guilty. He was remanded to appear o.i May 13. "Is this a properly gazetted camp?" asked the Magistrate. The acting-supervisor of the camp (Mr J. G. Greenwood) said that as far as lie knew the camp had been gazetted and authorised. It had been in operation for seven months. "I am airaid that that is not good enough,’’ said the Magistrate.
