The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) attended the diamond jubilee celebrations of the New Zealand Educational Institute yesterday. He will return north to-night. Several applications were considered by the Board of Governors of Canterbury Agricultural College at yesterday's meeting for the two entrance scholarships to the University degree course. The staff recommendations for the scholarships were 0. G. Haszard (Auckland), and W. I. Laing (Dunedill), and the board approved of these selections. Mr L. O. McMullsn, programme supervisor of the Ministry of Supply. Wellington, conferred with officials of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association yesterday on New Zealand's overseas requirements of textiles. He returned north last evening. As only the required number of nominations have been received, Messrs Andrew Johnson (TCmuka) and R. Prydc (Matanra) will be re-elected unopposed to the directorate of the South Island Dairy Association at the annual conference in Dunedin on June 3. Mr Oscar Natzke. the New Zealand basso, is now a member of the Canadian Navy. News of his enlistment has been received in Auckland in a letter from Montreal. He enlisted at Ottawa. Wilson has been appointed by the Church Extension Department of the New Zealand Baptist Union to be in charge of an evangelical campaign at the Oxford Terrace Baptist Church. Christchurch. Mr Wilson was associated with the Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher in his recent campaign work in Sydney and has also conducP’d missions in England, Australia, and New Zealand. Mr R. Filcakley, who has been heidtosting officer on the West Coast for 15 years, has been transferred on promotion to the clerical staff of the South Island Herd-Testing Association at Christchurch. He was bidden faroweM at Rotomanu bv herd-testing members representing Rotomanu. fnchbonnic, Taramakau, Ahaurn. and Total'll Flat, and presented with a hold-a'l and a roll of notes.
