WOMAN MISSING AT KAIAPOI

* The police are seeking information as to the whereabouts of Mrs Flora McLeod, aged 53 years, who disappeared about noon last Saturday. Mrs McLeod, whose home is in Thames street, Oamaru, had been staying with relatives at Kaiapoi. The missing woman is stated to be of slim build and fresh complexion, with blue eyes and golden-brown hair turning grey. Her height is sft 6in. Wh;n she was last seen she was wearing a black coat and hat. pale grey frock, and stockings and black shoes. She was carrying a black hand-bag and dark gloves. Late last evening Mrs McLeod's whereabouts were still unknown. Otira Tunnel Freight.—For the week ended on Saturday, only 13.556 tons of goods were railed through the Otira tunnel from the West Coast to Canterbury. This compares with 15,282 in the corresponding period of 1942 and 14,352 tons in the same week of 1941. The fall in tonnages is due to the diversion of consignments to other avenues of transport.
