TRAINING IN CIVIL DEFENCE

WOMEN GRADUATE FROM INSTRUCTION SCHOOL (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 10. “It is most gratifying to me that three of the graduates from the latest course are women.” said the Minister of Civil Defence (the Hon. D. Wilson) to-night, announcing that the Civil Defence School of Instruction had concluded its fourth training course and third general personnel course, from which 28 trainees, Including three women, had graduated as local training officers. “These women have shown a fine community spirit in taking this prominent part in civil defence. Their example is one which I am sure others will follow,” he said. The course lasted a week, and according to lectures, the graduates, the majority of them representing rural areas, reached a. high standard in the tests.
