WELLINGTON, May 9, The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 5 pm. by the Meteoiologlcal Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 21 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: — Moderate south-westerly winds, freshening at times. A few scattered showers, weather otherwise fair. Temperatures cold. Further outlook, becoming fair to line, with rising temperatures. WEST COAST Following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:— Moderate south-westerly winds, freshening at times. Weather fair, apart from a few scattered showers, chiefly in the ranges. Temperatures cold. Further outlook, fair, with slowly rising temperatures. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The week-end In Christchurch was overcast and cold. Rain fell on Saturday afternoon and there were showers again yesterday. The wind was from the southwest. There was a frost of 2.2 degrees yesterday. At 1 o'clock this morning the sky was clear and there was a cool south-westerly breeze. The barometer was rising slowly at 29.78 inches (1008.5 millibars).
