COMPETITIONS FESTIVAL

OPENING EVENTS DECIDED Record entries have been received for the thirty-third annual festival of the Christchurch Competitions Society, which was opened in the Civic Theatre on Saturday. The official opening ceremony was performed by the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr E. H. Andrews). The president (Mr G. M. Telfer), in his remarks, made reference to the long service of Mr T. F. Hall as secretary of the society. Song and Dance Duo, 13 and over.— Norma Turner and Beverley Warden (86 points) 1, Tory Stafford and Noehne Schmanski (73) 2, Shirley Alston and Dorothy Geddes and Violet Wallace and Tui Burgess (71 points) equal 3.
