RICCARTOiN SUB-BRANCH At the sixteenth annua) meeting of the Riccarton sub-branch of the Plunket Society, held in the Masonic Hall, Puriri street, Mrs Cecil Wood presided, and praised the work of the outgoing committee. Heavy Railway Traffic.—The term holiday rush of traffic on the railways will be of substantial proportions today, when the express trains in each direction on. the Midland line will be larger than usual, Present bookings indicate that 380 persons will leave Greymouth in a 10-car train, and that 420 will come from Christchurch in a train-of 11 cars. The double-unh rail-car to Christchurch last evening carried a full complement of passengers. Schools Close for Holidays.—Schools at Greymouth closed yesterday for the term holidays. The primary schools will resume on Monday. May 24. but the Technical High School will not reopen until the following day.
