VEGETABLE PRICE LISTS

INDIVIDUAL SCALES PREPARED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 7. An announcement made last December about the policy of economic stabilisation included a reference -o certain basic vegetables. Since that time separate price orders have been issued by the Price Tribunal, covering the production and marketing of potatoes, onions, and by a price order issued to-day amended maximum wholesale and retail prices have been fixed for carrots, kumeras, parsnips, pumpkins, swedes, and turnips. These prices have been framed with due regard ,o current production and marketing conditions, and the tribunal has stated its intention, by amending the price order or by a series of amending price orders, to provide for such alterations to the prices fixed by this order as may be warranted by conditions prevailing from June 30. ' , Prices fixed by to-night’s price order which will bo operative from Mpnday, are applicable to sales by auction as well as other sales. The following list gives four prices for each vegetable, being: (IJ maximum wholesale price per cwt in the North Island; <2) maximum wholesale price per cwt elsewhere; (3) maximum retail price per lb in the North Island; (4) maximum retail price per lb elsewhere:—Carrots, 15s. 12s, 2Jd. 2d: kumeras. 275. 275. 4A 4ld; parsnips, 20s, 16s, 3Jd. 2Jd: pumpkins. 18s, 18s, 3d, 3d; swedes, 12s, 2d, lid; turnips. 12s. 9s. 2d, IJd.
