APPEAL MADE FOR ECONOMY

(P A.) AUCKLAND, May 7. The gas position in Auckland has deteriorated to such an extent that the company to-day appealed to all industrial users of gas to declare tomorrow a gas holiday. The company has also appealed to domestic users to make a maximum effort to-morrow and on Sunday to reduce consumption to the irreducible minimum. These economies are asked for to enable reserves to be built up in the gas holders by Monday, to ensure normal supplies next week.
