REFUSAL TO WORK “IN RAIN” (P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 7

Some of the 50 waterside workers who were dismissed because they refused to work in what they alleged to be rain on April 18 will be suspended for a week and two days. Others will be placed on a penalty of two days. Three gangs of workers loading cargo on a coastal vessel wore dismissed by the Waterfront Control Commission wharf superintendent when they stopped about 9 o’clock on the morning of April 18. They claimed it was raining too hard to work and no work was done in one hold for the rest .of the day.
