“RIGHT-HAND RULE”

TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT’S CONSIDERATION

(P.A.I WELLINGTON, May 6. Further consideration is to be given to the effect of the Full Court’s decision wheih interpreted the "right-hand 'rule.’’ This was announced by the Minister of Transport (the Hon. J. O’Brien) to-day. He said that in brief the Court’s interpretation meant that the “righthand rule" applied in favour of a motorist who was turning as well as to one who was proceeding straight ahead. Steps had been taken by his department to investigate the effect of the decision on road safety, and as soon as reports on the position came to hand the whole matter would be considered from the point of view of road safety,
