Arnott, surgeon on the staff of the Grey Hospital, to become medical superintendent of the Westland Hospital, also against the direction of Dr. Arnott to remain in his present position.

The Westland Hospital Board was represented at the hearing of the appeal on Tuesday by Mr M. B. James, of Hokitika, and Mr W. D. Taylor, of Greymouth, represented . Dr. Arnott, who also appealed against the decisions of the Manpower Officer. The finding of the committee stated:— “The committee is of the opinion that, owing to the urgent need of the Westland Hospital district for a surgeon. and from the evidence submitted, a case was established for the transference of Dr. Arnott from the Grey Hospital Board to Hokitika to act in the capacity of medical superintendent to the Westland Hospital Board. Dr. Arnott’s appeal is therefore allowed as from Friday. May 7, 1943.”

The committee comprised Messrs T. Nuttall (deputy-chairman), H. Lee, and P. J. Kelly.
