AIR TRAINING METHODS

UNIFORMITY SOUGHT NEW ZEALAND AND CANADA (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 5. Four officers of the Royal Canadian Air Force have arrived in New Zealand. Their work is to promote the coordination of training methods in the Canadian and New Zealand sections ol the Empire air training plan. The officers are Squadron Leaders J. A. Sherrett, E. T. Mileski, and ,G. J, Mitchell, and Flight Lieutenant W. ifc*. It is anticipated that remain in the Dominion abouA a year. They will visit all Royal New Zealand Air Force training establishments, Chosen at the instance, of (JSWCaptain T. W. White. Chief"? Besides being well thought of in Canada, New Zealander! had created an excellent impression upon the Americans. Discussing the air training scheme* they described it as a tremendous success. Nevertheless, the controlling authorities were not prepared to let the scheme rest on its laurels, and research into means of increasing its efficiency were constantly in hand. It was to benefit the scheme and examine the training methods of the Royal New Zealand Air Force that the present visit had been undertaken. Already valuable impressions had been gained, and they had been impressed by the efficient organisation of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. They considered that a probable eventuality of their trip would be a large and frequent exchange of New Zealand and Canadian training personnel. In this manner ideas would be pooled and complete uniformity of training secured. Ordinarily Squadron Leader Sherrett is a chief ground instructor, and Squadron Leader Mitchell is a navigation expert. Squadron Leader Mil* cski and Flight Lieutenant Reid are flying instructors, the former being an American citizen who three years ago joined the R.C.A.F.
