Mr L. H. Warne, chief assistant to the Trade Commissioner for Australia, and Mr O. Conibear, of the Ministry of Supply, have returned from Australia, where they were engaged in negotiations with the Commonwealth Government.
Chief-Detective J. B. Young (Wellington), who has been promoted to the rank of sub-inspector and transferred to Christchurch, was bidden farewell this week by his colleagues of the Thorndon School Committee and presented with a leather portfolio by the chairman, Mr A. L. Holloway.
Captain J. W. Burgess, former chief pilot for Tasman Empire Airways, arrived safely in Baltimore on March 29, according to advice received in Auckland. Captain Burgess, whose wife and two children travelled with him, left Auckland recently to take up a post with British Overseas Airways in Baltimore.
