BUILDING PERMITS

. ANNUAL RETURNS SHOW DECREASE . According to figures supplied by the city engineer (Mr E. Somers), the number •of building permits issued by the Christchurch City Council during last month was more than double the total number issued for March, 1942, while the value of the jobs authorised showed a- similar increase. Figures for March, 1643, with comparative figures for March, 1642, in parenthesis, are as follows:—Number of permits issued, 70 (30): value of work, £11,673 (£4887); im collected, £76 19s (£B3).
