Green’s deposit iof £5 was ordered to be refunded and the clubs were ordered to pay all expenses. Mr A. S. Elworthy was chairman of the committee. The stipendiary steward, Mr C. F. Hartland, and Mr E. B. Fraser, a member of the clubs’ judicial committee, were also present. Green called as witnesses in support of his appeal five jockeys, A. E. Ellis, B. H. Brodle, A. Messervy, K. Thompson, and K. E. Wilson, and his master, J. Wadley. Three letters were also produced to evidence the peculiarity of the mare Sister Sal, which Green rode in the last race at Waimate. There are 31 In the Electric Stakes, and as the safety limit for the six furlong barrier is 24. it is practically certain that the race will have to be run in two divisions. Passing It On After the recent successful race'meeting at Waimate. the committee of the combined Waimate Racing and Hunt Clubs decided to grant an increase In the fees, payable to the various officials. With large fields, necessitating in some cases two division races, Increased attendances and restriction of facilities at many courses, the work of race-day officials has become much more arduous than formerly, and the situation is being satisfactorily met by the majority of the clubs. Finishing On The Improved Theolateral is interesting entrant from Awapunl for the Great Easter Handicap, states the "Calendar." The grey was tried in open company at the Manawatu autumn meeting recently, and while he failed to fill a place he ran a good race and probably would have been in the money but for finding the way to progress effectively barred during the run down the straight. That was a six furlong race, and Theolateral had a good deal of running left In him at the finish. Nominated for Ellerslie The entries for the Easter Handicap, one mile, total 45, and most of the best horses In commission In the north have been nominated. South Island horses are conspicuous by their absence, and so is the champion Kindergarten, who :has won the race for the last’two ycatrs in "succession. Kindergarten won with 10-3 last year, and It Is certain he would have received a very substantial weight if he had been entered. Included in the list are Monte Crlsto and Theolateral, who arc also In the Great Easter Handicap. Foxola and Lambourn, engaged in the Great Autumn Handicap, are in the President’s Handicap, one mile and a quarter. at Ellerslie. A Strong Pair . „ , The Te Awamutu trainer, A. Cook, will have strong representation in the Great Northern Champagne Stakes at Ellerslie with Royal Glory and Olga's Pal. Royal Glory has won three times In five starts, and Olga’s Pal has bad three firsts and a third In six starts. They are among the leading two-year-olds, and it will be Interesting to see which proves the better In the autumn.
