EGGS FOR CHILDREN

DISTRIBUTION BY PLUNKET SOCIETY P.A.) DUNEDIN, April 7. The secretary of the Dominion executive committee of the Plunket Society said that the Dominion executive had not yet been approached by the Internal Marketing Division about the distribution of eggs for expectant and nursing mothers and children. The matter would be discussed at thd council meeting in Christchurch next week, when it was hoped that the Minister of Marketing (the Hon. J. G. Barclay) would be present.

Small Birds Increasing.—"We should go direct to the Government and say that small birds are increasing tremendously, and ask that supplies of strychnine be made available,” said Cr. C. Ley at a meeting of the Geraldine County Council, when a letter was received from a drug firm stating that its stock of strychnine was depleted. The County Clerk (Mr .A. A. Readdie) said that the Agricultural Department had been written to and it could supply only two ounces. It was decided that the clerk should write direct to the Government asking that supplies be made available.
