FORMER FRENCH LEADERS
TRANSFER TO GERMANY ANNOUNCED (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, April 4. “M. Daladier, M. Blum, and General Gamelin have been transferred to Germany to forestall a planned Brit-ish-American coup to liberate them,” said the Berlin radio. “The British and Americans hoped to get hold of prominent personalities to form a countergovernment to create chaos and disquiet in France,” The radio added that M. Reynaud and M. Mandel 'had already been transferred to Germsny.
The German Government was unable to comply with M. Laval’s request to leave M. Daladier. M. Blum, and General Gamelin in France, said the radio, but it had given an assurance that the transfer would not result in any aggravation of the treaty ment received by those transferred. These persons would again be put at the disposal of the French Government as soon as circumstances permitted. There has been an increase in S.S. and Gestapo personnel at Vichy and Lyons. The Germans have begun the conscription of French women for war work in Germany. There is a call-up of women between the ages of 18.and 25. They will be trained in French factories and then exported to Germany. f’i
