Signs are not wanting that, he may yet race prominently before the present season ends. TROTTING NOTES Promising Young Trotter Forewarned, winner of the opening trotters’ event at the South Auckland meeting on Saturday, is a three-year-old by Swordsman from Pair Warning, and is trained by F. J. Smith for F. G. Brldgens. He haa done very little racing, but an idea Of his duality was given at the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting in February, when he was beaten by half a head by L. F. Berkett’s Safari over a mile and a half in 3min 32 4-sseo from a 3min 49sec mark. Swordsman is an imported trotter by Peter Volo—Lydia Lee. Smith produced two more winners during the day in Volo Senwood and Parshall. The former is a three-year-old filly by Lusty Volo from Wink Eye. and Parshall is a flve-year-oW by Ringtrue from Coal Light. There have been few more consistent horses than Parshall, who, since the beginning of last season, has started 16 times for seven wins, two seconds. and two thirds. Consistent Josette, trained by M. Stewart for Mr W. Hosklngs. is coming down in the handicaps and there was some merit in her win in the big event at Auckland on Saturday. Josette, by David McElwyn CyOne. has raced with marked consistency, for in eight starts last season she had two wins and two thirds, and this year she has started eight times for two wins, two seconds, and two thirds. Her dam, Cyone, who was bred and raced by Mr W. J. Moir. was a good race mare, trained by C. S. Donald Volterra was the only Fouth Island horse to win at the South Auckland meeting on Saturday, and the three-year-old cave Q. S.
