BREEDING OF PARASITES IS DISCONTINUED
Breeding of parasites to combat the white butterfly was discontinued a considerable time ago, as it was considered that the pai’asite was well'distributed throughout New Zealand, said Mr- J. Muggeridge 'assistant-director and chief entomologist of Cawthron Institute). in a letter to the Ashburton County Council on Friday. He added that no useful purpose could be served, by liberating any more. With regard to ..blowflies, he said, liberation of parasites was not being made. It was considered that any good which might accrue from the blowfly parasite must take place under natural conditions, as it would be an almost impossible task to replenish supplies ii areas .throughout New Zealand wherever the blowfly was prevalent.
