CHILD IMMIGRATION
Sir,—Child immigration will ho doubt take a great part in rehabilitation schemes. The public have just read of the wonderful gift bequeathed to New Zealand by the late Mr Guth-rie-Smith, and its purpose. Could any finer scheme be established for the training of our own orphans and overseas children of the slums than the Fairbridge farm schools? The schools were inaugurated in 1912 by that great humanitarian, Kingsley Fairbridge, and the practical success of his wprk is being proved throughout Australia and Canada to-day. His work can best be explained in the words of Mr L, S. Amery, a keen supporter: “I think this is the finest plan for human regeneration that has ever existed and Kingsley Fairbridge has laid the foundations of something that may yet help to change the face of the British world.’’—Yours, etc FAIRBRIDGE SUPPORTER. January 28, 1943.
