NATIONAL SAVINGS APPEAL
“The urgency of increased national savings as a measure to offset the very real threat of inflation and the dangers which follow in its train should claim the attention of everybody,” states an official bulletin on the Christmas appeal made in December. The values of bonds and coupons purchased in the three main centres during the four weeks of the appeal were:—Auckland, £44,161; Wellington, £34,612; Christchurch, £17,116.
