ARMED SERVICES APPEALS

DECISIONS OF NO. 2 BOARD

In appeals lodged by D. H. Brown and Son, Ltd., flourmillers, for the release of five soldiers from camp, the No. 2 Armed Forces Appeal Board yesterday recommended that release be granted until May 14 for A. O'Neill and N. W. Archer, and that the Army be asked to call for volunteers for three stackers. The same course was adopted in appeals for M. M. Annett and G. M. Annett, lodged by the Zealandia Milling Company. Ltd. Mr J. S. Barnett presided and with him were Mr G. T. Thurston and Mr S. L. Wright. Captain S. Bowron represented the military authorities and Mr E. D. Thompson (secretary) the Crown. J. M. Ramsay, slaughterman (North Canterbury Freezing Company), withdrawn by leave of the board; W. C. Foster, blacksmith (Addington Railways Workshops), release recommended; R. C. Ritchie, motorman (Christchurch Tramways Board), dismissed, reservist not to commence training before March 31; Reginald Frank Stokes, factory foreman (Carlyle Slipper Company and New Brighton Fire Brigade), adjourned for. review in two months: L. Andrews, bootmaker (Suckling Bros., Ltd.), appeal, allowed on ground of status- J. Rowley, carpenter (E. E. Rowley and Sons), decision reserved: G. W. A.
